I'm amazed at how many hummingbirds have been at the feeder lately. All this rain has limited the number of real blossoms.August began on a rainy note. Early morning and midday thundershowers left us with about a half inch of rain. July turned out to be a real record breaker. A number of communities set all-time records for rainfall in July. Little Rock airport well over 11 inches breaking the old record that has stood since 1891. Records have been kept in Little Rock for 130 years. July also went down as the coolest since 1968. Little Rock had an average temperature of 79 degrees, which was 3.4 degrees below normal.
Another note on rainfall.....7 months into the year we are more than 14 inches above normal for rainfall. Little known fact - Little Rock gets more rain on average that Seattle. We get on average 49 inches a year and Seattle picks up just under 39 inches. The difference is we have rain on average of 104 days a year and Seattle see rain on 158 days. By contrast Dallas gets about 29 inches a year.
No tropiclal weather to talk about so far this season.
